Signs & Structures
Animals leave behind recognizable signs, such as tracks, waste, dens, and nests, which often can be used to identify species.
Animal ProductsPearls, honey, and wool are examples of products made by animals and often harvested by humans. Sometimes it's the animals themselves who become products, such as with hides and sponges. Look for more images in the future covering the wide variety of animal products. StructuresDens, nests, and other structures provide protection from weather and predators, but also provide a place for raising young and storing food. |
Tracks & TrailsTracks and trails are physical signs of the actual movement of animals, including humans. WasteFinding the waste of an animal yields not evidence of its recent presence, but the contents provide an opportunity to study the animal's diet, parasites, and health. |
